DATE: Monday, March 21, 2016, 7:00pm to 8:30pm LOCATION: David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, Harvard University 1730 Cambridge St., Cambridge, MA Artist Abraham Cruzvillegas will discuss the new book, The Logic of Disorder: The Art and Writings of Abraham Cruzvillegas, in conversation with art historians Benjamin Buchloh and Robin Greeley. Available through Harvard University Press, this edited volume presents Cruzvillegas’s seminal writings for the first time to the English-speaking world, translated by Joaquin Terrones. Accompanied by critical studies from Greeley (the book’s editor, University of Connecticut), Claudio Lomnitz (Columbia University) and Mark Godfrey (Tate Modern), The Logic of Disorder puts on full display Cruzvillegas’s improvisational materialist praxis-“autoconstrucción”- marked by structural contingency and chance, by mischievous unraveling of conventional modes of thought, and by an exuberant precarity that evokes at once instability and inventive ingenuity.
