Graduating Class: '20

Lauren Clamon

Biology (7) & Literature (21L)

Studying literature at MIT has been one of the best experiences of my life. I was convinced in middle and early high school that I hated literature, and that I would never ever ever study it. Then, after taking my first lit class to satisfy a communications requirement, I fell down a rabbit hole of literature classes and each was more delightful than the last. It’s plain as day how much the entire department cares for its students, from Daria’s ability to get to know each and every one of us to Jess’s immaculate work on the Lit Teas to all the times that professors would spontaneously decide to feed their students in class during the rough parts of the semester. The Literature department has provided and excellent education over the past four year and made MIT feel like a home for me. I’ve never been more grateful to be wrong about what I’ve wanted to do with my life.
