The MIT Global Humanities is pleased to announce the launch of its new podcast series, Medicine and Healing Arts, a platform for conversations exploring the intersections of medicine, history, culture, and human flourishing across time and traditions.
The inaugural episode, “Introducing the Medicine and the Healing Arts Podcast: Ancient Medicine, Modern Questions,” is hosted by Professor Michael Stanley-Baker and Professor Ronit Yoeli-Tlalim, two leading scholars in the history of Asian medicine and global healing traditions. In this opening conversation, the hosts reflect on the intellectual and personal journeys that brought them to the study of medicine and healing, discussing the formative encounters, scholarly questions, and historical perspectives that continue to shape their work.
The podcast series examines how historically rooted medical knowledge can contribute to contemporary conversations about health, illness, care, well-being, and the future of medicine. Across the series, Michael and Ronit will be joined by scholars, practitioners, and interdisciplinary thinkers to explore how different cultures and traditions have understood the body, suffering, healing, environment, and the meaning of health.
Listeners can subscribe to Medicine and Healing Arts for thoughtful conversations on Asian medicine, religion, healing traditions, history of medicine, and their relevance for contemporary health and well-being.
